How ExcelCare works for you
ExcelCare utilizes nationally published criteria to review severity of illness and intensity of
service in determining medical length of stay necessity. Lengths of stay are assigned using the Solucient
LOS NORM, Western Region 50th Percentile.
Each case is reviewed individually, taking into consideration the patient's medical condition to ensure individual
needs are met. As a result of this careful review, ExcelCare's managed population have average lengths of hospital
stay which are lower than area averages.
ExcelCare phones are answered promptly by licensed nurses whose utilization review expertise is enhanced by
their clinical background. When a physician review is indicated, our medical and psychiatric advisors can be
contacted immediately, which facilitates the certification process and avoiding delays. Working as a team, our
professionals evaluate and determine appropriate levels of care.
